Hey,

So I am currently in a spanish class and am doing fairly awful in it, and am afraid that it will ruin many of my chances. I qualified for Intermediate Latin II which would fulfill my language requirement, but was stupid and decided that I would like to learn a new language, and unfortunately it has only hurt me. Should I get the "W" and keep a high GPA or probably get a C in the class?

Also, how negatively do colleges view a "W" It would only be one, and would bring me down to 27 total credits for the year (I'm applying as a Junior transfer though).

I just don't want to jeopardize my GPA, but also don't want it to appear that I dropped it because the class is too hard, I just have difficulty discerning between the two languages.

one W will not hurt very much. it would look more competent if you say, drop it this semester, and retake it next. why did you want to learn a new language, if you didn't finish the one you started?

I did latin for 6 years through grade school and high school and wanted a bit of a change. However, while I was learning spanish I was mixing up the latin roots with the spanish ones and it was just a mess. It wasn't prudent of me to take that class, so I'll probably just end up taking Intermediate Latin 2 and finishing out my requirement, rather than having to go through 4 semesters of spanish.
Thanks for your advice!

colleges will make their decision based on your gpa through last semester...might as well stay in the class, it won't affect your gpa as far as transferring is concerned.
