To everyone who submitted their app in the last week of December...

...have you been contacted for an interview yet?

yes. very late though

D was contacted last week of Jan & has been interviewed.

When’d he send his app?

The time when you submitted your app has little or no correlation with when you are contacted for an interview. At the very least, it’s not a very good predictor.

It’s logical, but not conclusive, that submitting my app late would mean it’s “toward the bottom of the pile.” = bottom of the interviewers’ stack.

That’s not how interview assignments work. Interviewers are given a bunch of applicant names/contacts and it’s up to the interviewer to contact them on their own terms. I certainly don’t know who submitted an app early, who submitted late, who submitted the day of the deadline etc. I don’t put the names in any particular order, and frankly, some interviewers may get a bunch of names and not have a chance to do them/get to them until a few weeks later, while others immediately contact their list. No such thing as ‘bottom of the interviewers’ stack’.

Homer - D applied 12/24

Right, I submitted my Harvard and Yale app at the exact same time over Thanksgiving. Harvard contacted me in mid December while Yale was very late January - over a month and a half apart. So
yeah, what ^^ S/he said. :)

D submitted her app way back in November, but didn’t get contacted until mid-January.

Why not give the school a call and find out for yourself directly from the horse’s mouth!

Like WindCloudUltra said, it doesn’t work like that. For instance, you and another person coming from the same school, having submitted application at the same time, may end up with interviews being offered at completely different times if, say, the two of you were assigned different interviewers. I think my lastest interview was in late February. Also, be prepared for the possibility that you’ll never be offered an interview. There simply may not be enough interviewers in your area.

homer: Do you note a constant theme in the answers given you? You may or may not ever get a call for an interview. Interviews are not correlated to when you submitted your app.

Stop worrying about something outside of your control and enjoy your Senior year.

Ok sounds good.

I’m not feeling good about no interview contact yet
I understand they say it doesn’t affect an application, and it’s very well possible (likely?) that my region’s alumni are too busy, but I don’t know of one accepted Harvard student (on CC or in person) who didn’t have an interview
:(:(:(:(

I have not been contacted, which is a bit unexpected, given that (to my knowledge) very few people in my area are applying and there is at least one interviewer available.

I submitted my app the day it was due and I was contacted 10 days later. I think it depends more on whether or not your interviewer is quick to contact you or lets it sit around for a while, and not how late you applied

What is the deadline for applications to arrive?

Has anyone contacted Harvard directly or called their regional alumni chairs about interviews?

I applied Dec 30 (or 31st, I forget), and I received a interview offer 5 or 6 days later.

I applied on Dec 28 and was contacted for an interview early January. I had it last month and it went really well! (:
