So I just got back the results from the October ACT (3rd). I got a 30, which was the same score as my 2nd time. All I want is a 31, i need help determining whether I could possible get a higher score my 4th time or if I've hit a wall. My averages for both 30s were 30.25 (argh).

I took the ACT many times (more than four) and I was able to improve my score from a 32 to a 34. Don’t become discouraged, however, because I was at stuck one question from a 33 for about two years and my efforts finally paid off.

i got a 30.25 also…bummer but yea its a matter of getting one more question right, so i doubt uve hit a wall

Do a lot of practice right up until the time of the test. This keeps the material fresh in your mind. I went from being stuck at 31 for 3 tests to a 33.

ty all very much, i just registered, (unfortunately the bastards at ACT work it so you don’t know past scores till after the next deadline), and I got a prep book. Fingers crossed!!! :D

I got a 30.25 as well… I was ****ed but happy at the same time since it was my first ACT.

I took about 3 complete practice tests and got a 31, 30, 31 in that order

I went into the testing center and got a 31.
I was pretty angry because I was aiming for a 32 that test and I could never break the 31 barrier.

Then I did a lot of studying on individual sections and came back out with a 33. Totally possible.

Just put some more effort into it, and you’ll probably get it. One thing I’ve noticed with the ACT is that luck can really help! Sometimes the curve is great, sometimes the sections’ questions are a bit on the easier side, etc. My first score was a 29.5, and my second one (after a whole summer break) was a 33 (then again, the 33 ACT had an easier science section for me). I wish you the best of luck!

I don’t think it was luck that you improved, honestly. You were probably doing better on that day unless you somehow managed to guess over 4 questions right (which is unlikely).

Ahah, of course. But, you know, questions in my favor won’t hurt!

Take it another time: you will possibly break through that wall. I got a 31 my first time, 32 my second time, 34 my third time and taking it again for a 35 or 36, my 4th time
