Hey guys this year I am in two AP classes, AP US History and Spanish 4 AP. I am definitely taking the AP exam for US history but I am uncertain about Spanish 4. I do not want to waste the fee of $92 to pay for the test due to financial issues within my family. I already tried to get a fee waiver but long story short they do not allow it because the state of California wants a tax paper from last year but at that point in time one of my parents that had lost their job still had one. So my question is, should I fork over the $92 and pay for the test or not? I do not feel comfortable taking it. I just feel that I will not pass. I took the AP European History exam about a year ago and I thought after the test I got a 4 maybe even a 5 but to my disappointment I got a 3. So this leads me to believe that if I am not comfortable with spanish now, I won't be able to pass the test. I have to decide by tomorrow. Thanks!

If you don’t feel you can do well on the test, then don’t take it. AP exams are not everything, so don’t fret too much about it.

Thanks for your opinion. You are right. Besides I can also put more attention toward my AP US History test rather than worrying about my spanish one. Also I know that some colleges don’t even accept some AP classes. But if I take it wouldn’t it show colleges that I tried?

If you have financial difficulty, it’s likely that your school or school district will pay for your exams. My district pays for exams for those who qualify for free and reduced lunch.

Not trying to be mean but I already said that look at my OP.

When you apply for college admission, the AP exam is less important than other factors. Colleges will place more weight on your transcript and the actual AP classes and other classes that you took to see your work ethic. You can self-report AP scores, but the AP exams are largely more for college credit than for college admission. SAT subject tests would probably help more for college admission, so the choice is up to you to take this exam.

Ok thank you very much. And of course I am going to be taking subject tests although for my school year and onward they have told us that we are not required to. But I am going to be.
