My AP Lang/Comp teacher is horrible at teaching. Unless he changes the way he teaches radically, I doubt that i will even get a 3 on the AP Exam.

Is it better to take the AP exam and fail or not to take the AP Exam?

Is this situation analogous to choosing AP or non-AP, where getting a B in an AP class is better just as good/better than getting an A in a regular class?

Well for a class like AP English, I doubt it is possible to self study. If I were you, I would drop AP English and get an A+ in regular, just like I am now. :)

uh 2 months into school year. can't change.
I agree that its hard to self-study AP english, since English is not my first language

Just tell me if I should take the AP exam and probably fail OR not take the AP Exam.
Don't tell me that I can do it if I study hard enough. This is like a "just in case" question, like I studied hard enough but when I take practice tests I get something like 2 or a dreadful 1.

I hate English, and I kind of suck at it too. (It's kind of a prerequisite for physics and math majors anyway.) I took the standard English course for freshman in high school, and that was it. I hate fiction, so I didn't really do anything with English until two weeks from AP tests in my senior year. I started reading a prep book for AP lit on poetry and some other stuff, but it didn't help at all. (ended up with a 2) Perhaps it carried over or something, because I didn't do a thing for English Language and got a 4. (I barely touched the third essay too) These were my "self-studies" to fulfill graduation requirements, so I encourage you to "selfstudy" English as well. If you also strongly despise the subject, try doing something more fun. (self-study in math or physics, there are plenty of options) Alternatively, if you want to do well and avoid English in college and/or strengthen your application you could actually study for it on your own, and probably get a 5. If you don't suck at English like I do, it should be a breeze.

Nevermind then. It's always worth a shot anyway-most English is BS, so the essays could potentially save you, even if you're not a native speaker.

uh well you can always drop AP classes. It doesn't matter what time of year it is. This is true at least in my school. As I said, if I were you, I would drop it.

Ok, if you don't think that you aren't going to do well (like you are DEFINITELY getting a 1 or a 2) don't take it. If you think that you might get a 3 or above, take it...

It also depends on what colleges you apply to --- some colleges might really want to see that you atleast tried
