How much of an interest have you shown for WUSTL? How did you show your interest? Please be detailed... I am starting to believe that if you show little interest you don't get accepted.

This isn't any mystery. WashU plainly lists "Expressed Interest" (or...something like that) as one of the criteria for their decision. That said, I've seen people who've shown interest get rejected, and I've seen some very indifferent people get accepted...

I was accepted RD, but my only real showing of interest was visiting the campus during my sophomore year of high school. I guess I've attended a few local info sessions as well.

honestly...it seems like the 'expressing interest' thing is not as big a deal as some people make it seem. i just received my letter yesterday morning...and the only real contact i've had with wash u has been going to a meeting when a representative from the university came to my high school. the main reason i applied is because i felt it was a good school and the common app supplement didn't require additional essays or anything...because i already had a lot of other apps to do.

My story is very much like salank's. I also had a rep come to my school. I applied because of common app and because the last two vals both went there. However, my interest in the school is very low, because I didn't get USP or a scholarship.
BTW, when the rep came to my school, he found out that I was not super-interested in WUSTL. Some kid said during the meeting that I was not interested. So I don't think interest has anything to do with it.

What the blank is wrong with this kid...?

i'm not sure if interest is that big of a factor. i mean, i applied to WashU on a whim. and past sending in my app, etc. i did not show any type of interest. a rep didn't come to my school. i didn't have an interview and i didn't visit the campus...

so yeah, i basically showed minimal interest and was still accepted...

I didn't visit or interview either........

hmmm........but my sister did go to the university...so maybe that helped?

I also emailed 2 or 3 times with updates to my application resume.

Um, Wash U isn't actually one of my top choices, but I did visit, and I went to a couple of college fairs where I talked to the people at the booth.

Almost none. I think sophomore year I might have sent back one of those postcard thingies because I was curious about the school. But then for the next two years I just sat back and let the delulge of mail wash over me.

And I was just sent a likely letter, so I don't think it's that important.

I visited, constantly asked for more info on their website about departments and such, things like that. Visits are big.

They love kids that visit!
I got my app. fee waived because I was there this summer.

Yeah, seriously. I remember how I told the rep how I was really interested in Wash U and one of their programs and really wanted to go. Then this kid, who I guess is one of my friends, says "you don't even want to go to WU. You're just applying to fuel your ego with acceptance letters". Luckily, it didn't affect me.

To all my colleges I sent a packet of supplements...so I don't know if that helped me or not. I never visited Wash U., since its too far, but who knows what they are looking for.

I attended an prospective student day last summer and had an interview. In February I went back and met with the theatre professor and then had lunch with a current student. I went back the next weekend to see Much Ado About Nothing. I have also been emailing an admissions counselor Hopefully all this interest will help?

I attended their business theme day and had an interview there. I also emailed the admission officer in charge of my school and gushed about how much I loved WashU. While perhaps a bit of an...exaggeration, I think it may have helped me, given the school's obsession with boosting their low yield.

I also showed absolutely little or no interest and I just received my acceptance letter.

I visited campus and spoke with the rep when he visited my school. I did not interview or call/e-mail my rep later. I was admitted.
