First off, as i've said a million times before, it is very likely that your file is already complete.. so why would they still contact you?? for most ppl's file are complete...

secondly, there are wayyyy too many outside factors or lurking variables for anyone to get a strong correlation between admissions and financial aid. no one knows exactly what's going on and everyone is just guessing... what makes you think other ppl's guesses are more reasonable than your own? it could be that the ones who are contacted need a huge amount of aid and they're just trying to check to make sure everyone's file is complete; and for those who need more than average need, they wanted to make sure they can get as much info as possible..

thirdly, the FA letter DEFINITELY does not mean the ppl who got in are IN... it COULD mean that they made it far in the admissions process and not have been rejected, but that definitely does not mean they're in...

lastly, it's harvard... for anyone, it's a long shot.. i don't think anyone on this board could or should say they deserve to go to harvard and harvard has to accept him...

and yeah i forgot to add, if they feel that your missing info is not important, then i don't THINK they will contact you. i am not a FA officer so i wouldn't know. but i would definitely thing so MzLover3... don't sweat it...

and what if they are missing some stuff but you CLEARLY will not qualify for financial aid? would they still contact you if you were being considered for acceptance? ahh like you said.. so many variables... we'll find out soon though.

here is thing i thought about.. if all they're doing is checking to see if EVERYONE's file is complete, then they would have contacted everyone who has any part of FA missing.. but i'd say that in your case, if you clearly will not qualify for aid, they won't bother contacting you at all....

do you think it's different for princeton? the FA mail stuff.....
because I got FA mail from Williams and I got accepted yesterday~~
hmm this is so confusing..

actually there do exist people for whom harvard is a lock. i live near princeton university, so sometimes students who skip classes and exhaust the courses at my high school take classes at princeton. well this one kid who graduated last year began taking classes at princeton in SEVENTH GRADE. needless to say he exhausted all the undergraduate math courses at princeton. <---now THATS a lock. (i understand you probably didnt mean the truly exceptional prodigies, which perhaps make up only 10% of the acceptances at the elite schools)

i believe princeton only do FA for admitted students.. actually, the lady told me that. i don't think she knew what she was talking about so i aske dher the question in 20 different ways.. well maybe not twenty, more like 3.. and she said they only do FA for admitted students..

from what i've heard, contact from FA office is always +++ never a -

o that is nice to hear!! I was contacted by princeton last wednesday about FA stuff..!~ however I will not be too optimistic now..haha princetonwannabe you got one too right?

I am missing 2004 tax returns and Business/Farm Supplement.

I need a huge amount of aid... like 40,000

But it is better to know that you weren't rejected yet than to know that you may have already been rejected.

Yes, you're right. I didn't have my hopes up too high before this anyway.

I think the missing Business/Farm Supp is important because other people got contacted for it, and I got contacted for these files from other less selective colleges.

But I'll stop perpetuating this madness. So many posts on this one subject... So I won't talk about it anymore, but it still bothers me. I think when we get our decisions on Thursday, we should write on the stats thread if we didn't get FA e-mail and was accepted.
