I wanted to ask any transfers who have finished their year and ask how hard or easy it was for them to get the classes they wanted. Is there any advice they would like to offer like, sign up for your required major classes first or take the hard professor because the class might not be offered the next quarter? and anything else they like to add? Thanks ahead of time.

What major are you?

For me, I basically got all the classes I wanted. The only class I could not enroll in fast enough was the Disney Film class. That kinda sucked considering I wanted to get it in my 5th year last quarter and I still did not have a early enough sign up time (no priority). For everything else though, I was able to get my classes without any problem.

A big tip I remembered reading was to sign up for smaller classes first. Larger classes that have 200-300 enrollment slots are more likely to have people drop and more likely for professors to let additional students in.

Research to see if a class isnt offered next class. If its historically a class that is only offered one quarter and you need it to finish your degree on time, take the hard teacher and just buckle down and do your best. I know for accounting, there are some courses that are only offered in the winter or spring so you would have to take those at that time (luckily for accounting, there are no courses that will really slow you down from finishing since there are lots of alternatives each quarter).

my major allows me to take courses from anthropology, economics, geography, political science, sociology, and other departments. The concentrations im focusing on will likely be anthropology, psychology, political science, and sociology, so are these courses easy to get into? I might switch my major to anthropology or sociology.

I also want to ask any transfers, if you have a lot of units, i might have like 150 or more with ap credit, will you be forced to graduate before your two years if you have your major requirements done, because i might want to tack on a minor

My friend had his AP units added onto his unit max so he was able to still take enough units while here. Not sure if that’s always the case, but that’s what happened to him. If your units came through extra courses, it will go into your unit total though.

The thing is, you can petition for more units and give a good reasoning and you should get approval (others chime in on this?). Personally, I got my unit max approved but I only wanted to add like 8 units.

does anyone know if anthropology, psychology, or sociology classes fill up quick?
Any transfers who majored in these majors want to give their experience about trying to get into classes?

im bumping hoping that any transfers will answer this, thanks
