Today, my mom told me she wants to come live with me on campus. FML.

<p>I turn 18 in November, so my mom wants to use her rights as parent to force Berkeley to let her live with me in my dorm till I turn 18. She wants to make sure I study and don't goof off with girls. She says if they don't let her, then she will "visit" me all the time, thought she will live in an apartment next to the campus. In the interest of my safety and my sanity, can Berkeley evict my mom from the dorm, like if she visits too long (i.e. 8hrs/day)??</p>

<p>I know that she can’t live in your dorm. It wouldn’t be allowed, plus she would have no where to sleep. Ditto on the repel woman comment.</p>

<p>She can’t live in the dorms with you, so you’ll probably be visited a lot… but eventually she’ll get tired of it and get over it. Asian parents can be strict but really, how strict can they be?</p>

<p>Even if you are under 18 years of age, Berkeley is bound by law to protect your privacy and they will not accommodate any odd requests by your mother to interfere with your campus life. She will adjust in time.</p>

<p>She’s just trying to test your patience and assert her parental control with outrageous demands before you leave for school. Don’t get sucked in, she’ll back down. Stay calm until UCB starts, she will try to bait you with other foolishness.</p>
