I'm an international student but i have not taken my TOEFL test. It says on the Yale website that TOEFL is "highly recommended" however, they do not require it. Would a CR score of 690 and a Writing score of 760 be sufficient enough for Yale to assess my level of english proficiency?

Yeah, if you're fluent enough to ace writing and reading, just skip it. It's pretty much a waste of money on anyone but those in the greyzone of fluency.

well, I did the toefl back in the dark ages, but at that time it also had a listening component (and I would add the tape recorder/speaker system my test site used was dreadful!) which tested one's ability to listen to and comprehend spoken english. Assuming the toefl still includes that component, that skill is NOT assessed in the SAT, and is very likely what Yale is looking for, since attending class requires that ability. So I dont think the SAT is a substitute for the TOEFL, though I found it tiresome and basic even all those years ago.
