Toefl???

I just gave SAT1 for the first time in October and scored 2230/2400 (660 CR, 800 Writing, 770 Math). I am giving the SAT Subject Tests in December. I am an international student.

The problem is that I am not sure whether I have to give TOEFL as it seems to be required by most colleges. I dont have much time as I am in my senior year. Any chance that I might be exempted from giving TOEFL with my CR and Writing scores??

Please Help.

Hi, I had the same problem, but I send emails to some colleges and searched their websites and I found out that there are quite a lot of them.
btw Writing doesnt matter.

For your scores I’d say Williams, Wesleyan U, Penn, Hamilton… There are more of them but I dont have list with me (I’m writing from school). Just search websites of your “favorite” schools and you into Standartized Test requirements and FAQ for International students.

You can find what you’re looking for in the website. I need to take the TOEFL because only 3 of 7 schools of mine waive it with my critical reading score (690)

ohk…thnx guys

btw the medium of instruction in my school is and has been English for the past 12 years…does that change the situation??

ROFL. hellyes. basically you dont need toefl.
i think most of the websites should say if the language of instruction of your school is english (for the past 3/4 years you’ve attended high school, at least.), you dont need toefl.
its the same for me, ive been to going to australian schools all my life. gee, i sound old.
anyway, english-english, australian-english, canadian-english, american-english… english is english. :)

You don’t need the toefl at all. If you’ve had your school instruction in English for that long no college asks it of you.

Lol, couldnt you say that earlier?

Anyway there are still some colleges who would require TOEFL. Now I can remember only Union C, but there are more of them.

I think it was that if you had 2 years of your high school education in English you didn’t have to take. I don’t exactly remember the numbers though.

It depends. Some schools want even 4 years.
