Tokyo Olympics

The British people. We didn’t end up watching a ton of the TV coverage.

I respectfully disagree about the British commentary. I thought their commentary (or lack of it) was not helpful to viewers. The network could have simply shown the competition without any commentary and it would have been as informative. Most people in the US know little about rhythmics and don’t understand the scoring, know little about who the medal contenders are, what goes into a high score or a low score, etc. On the very last night, the NBC network coverage included rhythmics and Andrea Joyce was one commentator. Her comments informed viewers about what they were seeing 100x more than the other folks.

That’s great the regular broadcast was good- I like Andrea Joyce. My D is making me watch all the qualifying plus the finals- it’s hours. We learned several things from them and we like that they don’t talk a lot through the performance. They are also very complimentary to everyone- saying they did a great job because in qualifying there is a major range of ability. In all honesty- we don’t care about the scoring and who wins- we just like to enjoy the performances. I also watched gymnastics with no commentary. I did the 4 camera feed for the all around women.

Did the network broadcast have the 360 camera? I love when they freeze the move and show it at all angles.

I love that 360 camera! I wish they used that more!

Yeah you gotta find that perfect balance between too much commentary (or commentary that’s useless) and too little or no commentary
