tons of girls!

ok haha hopefully that thread title caught people's attention...

my Q is, how have people been affected by schools with really large percentages of girls (like 65% female, 35% male)?

... it seems like this is becoming much more common (pretty much all the schools ive looked at have more girls than guys), and i was wondering how this affects social life???

It's good for the guys, less so for the girls (for you, it's more competition/less selection, and it's the opposite for guys).

Also depends on the school. Most colleges by nature have more females, but the bigger schools usually have drunker, more irresponsible chicks.

my school is almost like 70-30, at least 65-35, and you just notice that all the classes have a high percentage of girls, and club activities are mostly girls, but there are still guys everywhere, tons and tons of girls have boyfriends back home, so it's not like there is actually a lack of guys

send them over to Cornell engineering, i think the guy-girl ratio is like 7-3... *shivers

If it gets really bad, the girls actually take massive roadtrips to nearby colleges to find guys. I know girls from Mary Washington (like 70-30) take a lot of road trips to UVA to meet guys at UVA parties.

lg08-- what school do you go to, and does the lack of guys bother you at all.. ever? (also, are you a girl?)

I'm at American, yes I'm a girl, and really the lack of guys doesn't really bother me, because there are still guys all over the place here... plus it's a city, tons of guys in the area anyway, etc.

If you are a young woman wanting to meet fine young men, here is a suggestion. Study engineering, study business especially at the MBA level, study medicine, but most importantly -- play golf. Take golf lessons in college. Go to the nearest golf course and hang around the putting green. Ask any guy you are interested in how he putts and what he thinks of your club grip. Golf courses have a lot of guys who are well-educated, personable and make enough money to play golf. I once saw an attractive young lady pretending to have some difficulty with her putting. Next thing I knew there were five guys standing around her offering advise and encouragement.

haha...thanks bigmain......

Lol, sounds like dating advice from my grandma (you can love a rich man just as much as you can love a poor man). But I'm male, by the way.

the funny thing is, even though my school is like 65-70 percent girls, the guys still complain that none are attractive, none are available, etc. etc.

hilary6 - another suggestion - take up rock climbing or tour biking - ratio of (very fit) guys to girls is most wonderfully plentiful.

For the guys, take up horseback riding - you'll never be without a girl by your side again.

You are right yulsie. Also, guys also should consider dancing lessons or dancing organizations. No I am not talking about going dancing at nighclubs in the nearby city. Taking dancing lessons will give a guy one on one attention from many women. I can recall an average looking guy who liked to dance and once that information was out there, he had women he would never have otherwise considered speaking to actually asking him to go out dancing with them.

a school with way too many girls usually means they are lesbians/feminist which means ugly bull-d ykes

send some of the hot ones to georgia tech please

take dancing classes...but don't take 'em at community colleges...most of the students are like mothers or otherwise "interesting" ppl...

hehe I did that and there were still no college students, they all had grandchildren :D i go to school with tons of guys and they put on their "goggles" when it comes to the females here. yet almost every girl is taken.

how about at somewhere like sarah lawrence, eugene lang, or similar schools...its something like girls/guys 70%/30%...it is almost like going to an all girl school? I mean, I have been in an all girl school for the last four years, don't know if I want anymore.

haha i kept thinking of vassar reading this since it still has a very large percentage of girls and even of the guys who are there, many are gay (or so i hear)

Flagler College in St. Augustine, Florida has something like a 2:1 ratio of women to men.
