ECO2023
ACG 2021
STA 2023
MAC 2233

I'm a sophomore btw and I failed MAC2311 with a D+ because spring semester I was diagnosed late in the term with depression and extreme anxiety but I've gotten myself better and excited for the year and was wondering if these classes (MINUS ACG 2021, I know it'll be hard, I bought the study guide that's on amazon early and I've been reading it/doing some problems to get a little familiar with the material) will be okay?

I had AP Stats in HS, and IB calc... I'm not fond of trig so that's another reason I believe I struggled in MAC 2311. The professor for MAC 2233 is supposedly easy so I want to take it now to get it out of the way. Should I maybe drop Stats or will I be okay if I focus, study, go to all my classes, and use Smokin Notes and Tutoring Zone when needed?

Oh and I have all my GEN EDS minus writing which I plan to take in summer so I really don't want to waste money on courses I don't need.

What’s your major? Why do you have to take calculus?

Accounting, was a Pre-vet Zoology student. Need to retake calc to get my pre-professional gpa up and if I don’t get into the accounting program, I have to retake it for business economics for gordon rule.

But I don’t see how that’s relevant.

No need to get defensive OP. If you have schedule questions, it would be a good idea to state your major so that we can better help you better. I was thrown off a bit when you mentioned MAC2311, being as you were leaning towards Accounting according to your schedule, clarification = <3.

Nevertheless, I’ve always been told that unless you’re a real number person it’s not the greatest idea to take Calc and Stat classes at the same time. In High School I took AP Cal AB and a Dual Enrollment class in Statistics at the same time and wanted to murder myself. You said you took AP Stat and IB Calc; were they at the same time? If so, how comfortable were you with them? How comfortable were you with the classes individually and would you be able to handle taking them together?

I think that your schedule is manageable if you watch yourself. But if ACG2021 is going to be difficult and take up a lot of your time, I would definitely reconsider Calc or Stats (take one or the other) and replacing it with another required class for your major.

I took them together, A student in stats but got a 2 on the AP exam due to not understanding most of the probability sections, and an A/B student in calc with a 4 on the IB exam. I hardly ever was crunched for time with either classes. IB Bio HL was the class that took most of my time if any. I was hardly ever stressed in high school except with my papers like Theory of Knowledge. My teachers in high school were the best and I loved the way they taught and they made it low stress. I struggled somewhat with Calc at some points but mostly trig, and I know MAC2233 doesn’t involve trig.

When I looked at the accounting syllabus it doesn’t seem bad so how can I really tell how much time it’ll take me when studying/doing the homework? I’ve never been good with looking at a syllabus and determining the difficulty of the course without being in the class for a while.

UFGIRL, what do you mean by business economics for Gordon Rule? My daughter is a 3rd year Accounting major and we’ve never heard of that. Gordon Rule are your math and writing classes.

If I don’t get into the accounting program because I have to apply instead of just easily switch, I plan on majoring in the Business college with economics. It (Economics) requires mac2233 OR mac2311 for your gordon rule as a special requirement for Warrington Business College on my audit. Since I didn’t pass mac2311 it doesn’t count so I have to either retake it or take mac2233.

UFGirl if you were an A student in stats I can’t imagine you finding STA2023 difficult at all… it’s all online except a once weekly 50 minute lab (really easy). The professor is really easy to follow (I’d never taken stats in my life and I aced the class with relative ease, just by studying the day before the exams). It really wasn’t a time consuming class at all, and there is only a small section on probability and she even says that she knows it isn’t a probability course so she doesn’t put too much focus on it. The key for me was actually watching the lectures, if you do that she spells out exactly what you need to know for the exams.

Oh that doesn’t sound bad then. I already bought the lab workbook off amazon and the material doesn’t look too difficult. I was just worried there may be a lot of homework assignments or something that takes up my time. I have economics and stats online and accounting in class but I plan on attending economics so stats would most likely be the only thing I watch online so I won’t be overwhelmed with finding time to do that either. Thanks you!

There’s a weekly quiz but I believe you get 2 or 3 tries and there’s only like 5 questions I think. You only need the workbook unless you want the text for reference, there’s no homework out of it. She really sets her students up for success, imo.
