Too many study halls? Help!

The first day of my sophomore year is this coming Monday and I still haven't decided whether I want to ask my guidance counselor if I could replace one of my study halls for some other elective class. Our school uses block scheduling so I've ended up with study hall everyday. One of them is required for AP Bio but the other one just fills the gap that none of my selected electives could. On one hand, I would like the extra study hall because it allows me more time to do homework (I have 2 hour XC practice after school everyday) and try out things outside of school (I've been wanting to do a painting class at the local art center). On the other hand, I'm worried colleges will think I'm taking the lazy way out, especially since some kids in my grade are taking 3 APs with the only 1 required study hall. I'm going to be taking AP Bio, AP World, German 2H, French 3H, Alg. 2H, and English 2H. Is the extra study hall okay for this workload?

Also, I think the extra study hall is only for 1 semester, though I'm not sure.

Thank you for your responses!

It raises your weighted GPA

Two study halls wont look good. Colleges do not care about weighted GPA that much, its all about unweighted. Taking an extra study hall to raise your GPA is a very bad idea since many colleges will recalculate your GPA to their standards. I suggest finding an elective for it. Don’t take an extra study hall (unless one is required) unless you have a job or other commitment that requires you to leave early, or you are a senior (that my personal general rule that I recommend).
