Top 10% of applicant's stats??

I really wanna go to ucsb and I also reallyyyy wanna get into the honors program!
1) is the program offered to the top 10% of applicants or to the top 10% of enrolled students?
2) what were the avg stats for the 2010 class accepted into the honors program?
3) Is it just gpa and sat/act?
4) I have a 4.0/4.5 2110 sat and I'm top 9% at the #5 public school in CA...am I borderline?

Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

You have a pretty good shot. I heard they have 200 honors spots but I’m not completely sure! If you don’t get it in don’t worry too much about it. You can get in you’re sophomore year with a 3.6 gpa and that’s what I plan on doing! Good luck :)

Thanks for the response but is it after sophomore year or after freshman? And is there anywhere I can find the stats of the people that got in this year?

If not admitted to Honors as an incoming freshman, you can apply at end of freshman year to be in as a sophmore. I don’t know what the average stats are for the most recent freshman class but I got in with a 4.3 and a 2340. Good luck!

I was admitted to honors this year as an incoming freshman. my stats were 4.3 weighted GPA, 2160 SATs, 730/750 SAT II’s, and a WHOLE bunch of ECs/volunteer hours. Since it’s the top 10%, it really depends on who else is applying to Santa Barbara, if most of the people applying have better stats than you, you’ll have a lower chance and vice versa. A friend of mine got into SB with the same GPA as me, 2080 SATs, but almost no ECs, and didn’t get into the honors program. You look fine but they want to see the whole package!

Ohh okay got it thanks! I thought I wud have to wait till like junior year if I didn’t get in as a freshman so that’s good. Well I won’t worry about it then…or maybe I’ll take the sat again and work on my reading (620 ugh) and hopefully get around 2200

I got into the honors program freshman year with a 2020 and a 4.28 uc gpa. My ec’s were ok. I was probably on the lower end on the scale of admitted honors students though.

I’m in the honors program with ~1900 in SAT and 4.5 GPA + tons of college credits

i called the admissions office and she said that anywhere around a 4.0 uc gpa and 2100 SAT is usually about what’s needed to get in…obviously a higher gpa will balance out a lower sat and vice versa but u never know i guess  im not gonna worry about it and if i dont get in ill just apply after freshman year

but thanks for ur responses and anyone else that got in can u please post ur stats? thanks
