Topic of Choice: Do we have to clarify?

I probably have already royally screwed this one up considering I have already submitted my essay, but I chose the "Topic of Choice" essay option for the common app and spent months preparing my essay on my family history and the hardships and triumphs of my life.

I loved my essay, and so did my english teacher and school guidance counselor. So, excited, I recently submitted it with the title of "The World of a Wanderer" which fit my essay nicely.

It was exactly 500 words, conveyed everything I needed it to, spent all summer and this year perfecting it. It was ready. I hit submit the other night.

But looking over my submitted common app i realized I may have already made a horrible mistake. I never made up a prompt so to speak that determines what topic I wrote about.

I gave it a fitting title and I'm fairly certain that admissions officers will be able to determine what I wrote about, but do you think they'll mark me off cause I didn't directly say, "For my topic of choice I've written about my family history and personal triumphs/struggles. Enjoy." ?

I'm kind of freaking out right now so if there is anyone that could help it would be appriciated. Thank you :)

I think you are fine! Relax.

Neither of my kids directly stated which prompt they were responding to, and Kid #1 got many acceptances, and Kid #2 has heard from two schools so far, both acceptances. Kid #2 had his very experienced College Counselor do a last proofreading and he never said, “State the prompt.” You’d waste too many words doing so!

You’re fine lol
