Touchy Subject--please help!

I recently decided to apply ED. I submitted a pre-application to the school I'm applying to before I made this decision, where I indicated I would apply RD and indicated that I had been "suspended/dismissed" from school. I have not paid the fee with the pre-app yet, even though you're supposed to when you submit it to this particular school--they say to call the admissions office if you want to do pay after the fact.

But since then, I've decided to apply ED, and I learned that my guidance counselor is not mentioning my suspension in her rec.

Should I create a new pre-app for this school, OR should I call the admissions office, tell them I'm applying ED, pay the fee over the phone, leave the "have you ever been suspended" box on the Common App checked off, and send in the explanation of the situation it asks for?

I don't want my own recounting of my suspension situation to be inconsistent with my counselor's rec. But I don't want to submit a new pre-app when the school could see my old pre-app (though I haven't paid, so I don't believe it's been 'processed') and have that raise questions. So should I tell me guidance counselor to mention it in her rec?? Seems sort of insane...

THANK YOU for any advice.

(bump) Anyone?

I would recommend being honest, as you have been. You might get away with covering your tracks, but why even risk it? I would also advise talking to your guidance counselor and voicing your concerns, perhaps requesting that she address your suspension (for the sake of consistency) if you think she can do so in a way that doesn't really show you in a bad light.

Thanks, yeah, I talked to my GC, and she said that the school district has a policy of not releasing information regarding disciplinary records, which counselors explain in their recs; it's down to the student to report, and I will be doing that.
