My scholarship adviser (I'm a National Merit Finalist) gave me advice on how to get into the Towers Housing in the fall. I took his advice and changed my contract to 11.5 months but it wasn't until recently that I found out that would incur an extra $2000 dollar fee! And apparently I can't change it now? (I am moving out in early July or earlier... I really don't want to have to pay a thousand dollars a week for housing for the first few weeks of summer!)

Is there any way I can avoid this fee and just move out after the Spring semester is over?

I contacted my adviser and got this response: "I dont know if housing necessarily offers a pro-rated fee structure for students only wanting to live in the Towers for a portion of the summer. You can pay a cancellation fee and move out at the end of spring as another option."
I can't seem to find out what pro-rated even means in this context, and when I looked up the cancellation fee it seemed to be just as much as it would be to continue living in the Towers.

I contacted Housing and have gotten no response as of yet.

Can anyone help me here?
