Tower III Summer fee?

My scholarship adviser (I'm a National Merit Finalist) gave me advice on how to get into the Towers Housing in the fall. I took his advice and changed my contract to 11.5 months but it wasn't until recently that I found out that would incur an extra $2000 dollar fee! And apparently I can't change it now? (I am moving out in early July or earlier... I really don't want to have to pay a thousand dollars a week for housing for the first few weeks of summer!)

Is there any way I can avoid this fee and just move out after the Spring semester is over?

I contacted my adviser and got this response: "I don’t know if housing necessarily offers a pro-rated fee structure for students only wanting to live in the Towers for a portion of the summer. You can pay a cancellation fee and move out at the end of spring as another option."
I can't seem to find out what pro-rated even means in this context, and when I looked up the cancellation fee it seemed to be just as much as it would be to continue living in the Towers.

I contacted Housing and have gotten no response as of yet.

Can anyone help me here?

Unless you are graduating or have some extenuating circumstance, they are not going to cancel your contract without you incurring the penalty. You signed an agreement for 11.5 months, which means you are responsible for 11.5 months worth of pay.
