Train Station from UCSB to Goleta

So I have orientation coming up in a couple days and I've run into an issue...

On the 24th, my train leaves at 6:45 p.m. while orientation ends at 5:00 p.m. Is there any way to get public transportation from the campus (or close to it) to goleta amtrak? Specifics would be awesome if you can. I don't want to walk and get lost and possibly miss the train.

Directions here:

Bus fare is $1.75, in case you don’t have a bus sticker yet.

The UCSB bus schedule (for line 24x) is here:[/url”>http://www.sbmtd.gov/maps-and-schedules/24x.html]here:

Look under “Alternate Schedule”, and look for 24x heading towards Camino Real Marketplace.

Thanks for the help. So many directions to remember…I’m so freaked out I’ll be lost or miss by bus or something.

edit: The google maps direction says to take train 11, not 24, which confuses me.

Nah, take bus 24x.

I don’t know where the hell the 11 goes to.

ADDED: What the hell, I thought I had the bus 24x route saved into that google map link.

Type in the directions again, and make sure you take the 24x route (It’s ALOT LESS WALKING with the 24x route).

EDIT: Try this link again: <a href=“Google Maps”>Google Maps;

Thank you, thank you, thank you so much, Hairy Lemons, for your wise insight. Thanks to you, I won’t have to walk to the train station. :D

So just to make sure I’m reading the bus website correctly, there are two buses coming from ucsb at 5:29 and 5:34 to Hollister and La Patera on the 24th? Also, I know that registration closes at 3:30-5:00 on the last day, but how likely is it that I have to stay after a bit to finish all my registering? I’m an engineering student though and I hear I get to be in a different line than most other people.

Oh, and is there a way to remember where the bus will pick me up? Lol, I’m terrible with navigating my way. The bus will accept anyone right? and not just UCSB students or people with some kind of bus pass?

I hope I get to meet you in person some day. :3

Yes, as an engineering major you get to stand in a separate line that at most can consist of 20 to 30 people, but the line will probably never go over 10 (20-30 is generally the total number of engineering kids at orientation). Back when I did my orientation it literally took me 2 minutes to walk up the stairs and have the counselor look over my schedule (I don’t know if it’s any different this year but it shouldn’t be). I was completely done with the process 15 minutes after GOLD opened up.

And as for the bus situation, be careful to check which train station you’re coming/leaving from! Because there are two different stations: the one in Goleta (GTA) and the one near State St. (SBA) If you’re going to SBA you want the 24x (which runs from the school to the marketplace and from the school to the transit station) like Lemon said, but if you’re going to GTA you definitely want the 11 which will take you directly from the school and up Hollister.

Don’t worry about the buses, they take anyone who has money (make sure to bring quarters!) And as for getting picked up, at the school won’t be difficult because it’s just at the bus loop but the bus from the train station to the school will be a bit more difficult. Coming from GTA the bus stop is super close to the station, you just need to find your way to Hollister and you’ll probably be able to find the stop easily.

Oh wow that’s unusual: I found out that the 11x and the 24x buses take me to the same location after going to camino real marketplace. It’ll be my first time on a city bus.
