Tranferring

Hello!
I was wondering if you guys can help me with choosing what is the best here.
Going for 2 years at Northeastern Illinois Uni, and transferring to UIC (computer science) or going to community college(Harold washington) and than transferring to UIC?Did anyone transfer computer science to UIC and how was it?
Since I’m very new in America, so I don’t know anything about credits. How to know if I can transfer them? Should I contact school before or check it myself?

What would be best, and also easier to do?

Thanks!

At the HWCC website, there should be very clear information what you need to do there in order to transfer into UIC. Likewise there should be very clear information at the UIC website about requirements for students transferring from community colleges. You can use each website’s search engine to look for articulation agreements, guaranteed transfer, or words to that effect.

You also need to consider affordability, and what other majors both NIU and UIC offer in case you change your mind about computer science. To get an estimate about the costs, run the Net Price Calculator at each of the three websites.

Yea, but when I transfer all classes through www.■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■/, i cannot see any matches. Maybe it’s cause it’s different name or something. So I was thinking maybe I should plan which classes I should pick if I know that I want to transfer to UIC one day. I’m just afraid not to take classes witch won’t count after. Do you know anything about Northeastern IL university? And also, is it generally hard to get in any school after community? Is it rare or a lot of people do it that way?

NEIU is not the best of schools. There is a large difference of quality between it and UIC, but it is considered to be better than Chicago State. If you are living at home, than UIC should be cheaper than NIU. The only way for NIU to be cheaper is with a scholarship because you’ll have to live on campus. NEIU is cheaper than UIC but it has a poor reputation.

UIC accepts many transfer students from the city colleges. Over the years UIC has had guaranteed transfer programs with the city colleges of Chicago and it currently does. For college of engineering, you need to keep a 3.0, complete the required engineering courses and get an associates. http://r.search.yahoo.com/_ylt=A0LEVrcnC0JWqLUAJE4nnIlQ;_ylu=X3oDMTEzdGxkYnRpBGNvbG8DYmYxBHBvcwMyBHZ0aWQDRkZVSUMxXzEEc2VjA3Ny/RV=2/RE=1447197608/RO=10/RU=http%3a%2f%2fwww.ccc.edu%2fdepartments%2fDocuments%2fTransfer%2520and%2520Articulation%2fPartnership%2520Pages%2fUIC.pdf/RK=0/RS=K2En0pJnxVFqgET0WMfV09Vo35E-

Awesome! Thank you so much, I was afraid if it was guaranteed or not. Than CC to UIC is the way to go. Thanks again!
