I was rejected for business admin. with a 3.92 gpa and all prereqs completed, I would like to know what I did wrong and the stats of those who are accepted.

they might have rejected you for yield rate.

You are probably overqualified in their minds to accept their admittance and denied for yield. just my guess

That may be it, I am unable to come up with a better reason. Have you seen the stats of any transfers that were accepted for business admin?

hotshot appeal if that was a school you actually want to go to and not just a safety … my friend did that last year with similar stats as yourself

ouch. rejected calpoly BA. 3.7 GPA with all pre-reqs completed except business law. sad day…

http://www.ipa.calpoly.edu/publications_reports/factbook/fbfall08.pdf

looks like in 08 they only admitted ~ 70 people for business admin no clue but that’s less than Haas.

It’s usually private schools that practice yield protection. Not public schools.

hotshotxx: If you don’t mind me asking, where do you live? I’m pretty sure applicants living in or near San Luis Obispo (Cal Poly’s service area) get preference over those who don’t. That and the budget cuts (less spaces available) might be it.

i live in riverside county, east of orange county and north of san diego county.

makes lots of sense. makes the “i got waitlisted” me feel a lot better.

Have any Business Admin transfers been offered admission yet?!

*** CAL POLY!

3.55 BA with ALL PRE REQS DONE!

Yep. 2.8 GPA with every possible pre req. they could want. I got waitlisted while a friend got rejected with 3.6 and minimal pre reqs

Cal Poly focuses on grades earned in core courses for transfers. If you don’t have business calc as an example completed with at least a B, your probably automatically out.

I received my rejection today… 3.7 gpa, major-business, igetc completed, all prereqs except calc completed. Same situation for my friend who was also rejected except she had a 3.8.

No calc is the real deal breaker. I think most UC’s require Calc before transfer now for econ/business majors i believe Irvine goes as far as to require 2 semester at B+.

Irvine says this:

“For Fall 2010, transfer requirements for all majors in Economics are the following: one course in micro-economics, one course in macro-economics, and two quarters of calculus (equivalent to UC Irvine’s Math 2A and 2B) OR two semesters of calculus.”

It would appear that not taking Calc1+2 and/or not having it planned by Spring = Application Recycled.

Has anyone who is a transfer student been accepted off the waitlist or have you heard of anyone?

when you guys are applying, are you guys applying with 30units completed or 60 units? cause i plan on applying this oct with 45unit and get the rest down during the 1 year waiting period.

my goal is to apply this oct with 45 units with a 3.2-3.5 gpa.

anyone know the answer to my question :(

yeah you apply with 45 units or whatever and just make sure you have 60 completed at the end of spring semester before you go in the fall. you can’t complete the 60 in the summer—they have to be done by the end of the spring semester

Lol I got accepted to Irvine with a C in Calc(1B) as a Biz Econ major.
