transfer admission?

i am wondering how the transfer process works texas a&m. on the website is says to look at the individual colleges for transfer information. on the biomedical sciences page it says

"will require at least a 3.0 GPA and all CBK courses completed with at least a "B " in all courses to be considered. Those with 45 or more hours completed at the time of application will be given preference in admission. The transfer into Biomedical Science must occur before the student reaches 75 completed hours."

and the CBK courses include...

"Completion of a set of Common Body of Knowledge (CBK) courses (35 hours to include BIOL 111 & 112, (previously BIOL 113, 123, 114 & 124), CHEM 101 (now CHEM 101/111), CHEM 102 (now CHEM 102/112), CHEM 227, 237, 228 & 238, PHYS 201, 202 and MATH 131) with a grade of C or better in each course. Normally, for admission to BIMS upperlevel courses, a student may have attempted a CBK course no more than twice. A minimum of 55 completed semester hours with a cumulative resident GPR of 2.5 or better."

because i am a current freshman looking to possibly transfer to tamu next fall i am wondering when i could be able to transfer because looking at this list of classes required, there is no way that i can take all of those sciences between now and next year. i am not sure how this precess works, can someone please explain this to me? i would really appreciate it!

also i am wondering if a transfer student would be able to live on campus, or if they would get admitted early enough to apply/receive housing?

thanks so much :)

Transferring is tough as a freshman. This is the experience from my daughters friends:
They had to have 24 transferrable hours to be accepted. Neither had 24 hours by the transfer deadline - but would by the end of spring semester. A&M denied admission, but then said they would be reconsidered for admission when they submit their spring transcript. Then the long wait. Freshman to sophomore transfer students are the last to be considered, my daughters friends found out in July, but both were admitted to the college of Agriculture. Neither of them wanted on campus housing, but another friend was accepted off the freshman waiting list in late June and he did get on campus housing.

My best advice for you is to make an appointment with a prospective student center counselor- or go to A&M and speak to an admissions counselor. If you go to a prospective student center you will have a person to contact for all your questions and great help in the process. They may help you pick the correct spirng classes for transfer.

if i have ap credit that gets me higher than the 24 required credits will it make it easier to get in or be accepted sooner?

I don’t know the answer to that question, sorry. You might call admissions and ask about that.

They don’t consider AP credits until after you are admitted. My son just went through a similar situation as klparker312 daughter’s friend. He applied as a transfer for the current fall semester. Each college sets their own transfer policy. He didn’t have the necessary 24 hours by the initial deadline, but they did reconsider his app once he sent his spring transcript by the June 1 deadline. He was admitted into the College of Engineering this fall and just now got his AP credits taken into consideration and is officially a junior. He still has to complete a few of his CBK courses this semester and will be allowed to start his aerospace courses next semester.

do the count dual credit?

That I don’t know. You’d have to check with admissions.

thank you for your help!
i would think that they would count it since it is actual college credit from taking a college class, not just for passing a test… but who knows.
i will have to check.
if they do take it then i will have 32 hours (freshman fall semester hours + dual credit hours) so i would have the required 24 hours to transfer.
