Transfer admissions for cal poly SLO city planning?

<p>So I'm currently a second year community college student trying to transfer into cal poly, and I will be applying this upcoming October for the 2012-13 filing. I have a 3.21 gpa(will increase after this semester), part of 2 honors programs at my community college, and I've volunteered for a semester with an activist group called CALPIRG. I have read many intimidating and scary forums about perfect students getting denied from cal poly, and I'm freaked out that regardless of what I do I will not be accepted to cal poly. What other things can I do to increase my chances of being admitted to the school? Also I have no idea on how to get some work experience in the planning field. I'm really freaked out about this, and cal poly is my #1 choice. Any advice?</p>
