I applied yesterday as a transfer student. Does anyone know how long it will take for a decision?

When I applied as a transfer, I sent in my application after the my first semester of college, and didn't find out I was admitted until early July!! I had almost given up. Now, this was 2004 so maybe things are different now but I wouldn't expect to hear anything before May. They most likely will ask for your spring semester grades. Best of luck!! Where are you applying from?

Wow! 7 months? that's crazy. Sigh, I want to know now! :(

And I'm applying from GMU

I know the wait is torture but the best advice I can give you is to keep yourself busy and the day will come when you'll hear from them at a time you least expect. Honestly when I heard, I hadn't thought about UMD in days and then the surprise was great!
If you don't mind me asking, what are you planning on studying there?
That's cool that you go to GMU, my bother's there now.

Thanks for the response :) And I plan on studying Economics.

i found out this morning that i was admitted by checking manually. i am a transfer student also but I applied in late january.

i found out this morning to that i got in as a transfer, i applied the last week of january and all my documents were recieved on february 3. i had a 3.1 gpa for the fall semester at indiana university-bloomington in case anyone was interested and wondering what you need.

Thanks, would you guys mind if I asked for your stats?

I got in with a 3.7, Maryland has a strong economics program, it's always getting honored. That's a good major to pursue there. I really hope you get in! It looks like the wait may not be as long for you as it was for me, seems they've changed the system from 5 years ago based on what those admitted are saying here!

i got my acceptance letter yesterday and had all my transfer materials in by mid january. i had a 3.9 gpa and am a freshman transferring for my sophomore year. i want to major in something in the business program as well, but only had about half of the classes required for external admission to the business school.

I called them and they told me they would let me know mid-april. :( I don't think I can wait any longer lol

i got in as a transfer :)

congrats, all!

thanks astrophysicsmom

does anyone know how the financial aid packet is for transfer students? i have a 0 EFC on fafsa and applied by UMD’s fafsa priority deadline

are you in-state or out of state? That makes a big diff for new freshman; don’t know the impact for transfers. (There are MD aid programs that the OOS kids don’t qualify for, naturally)

I’m OOS. The current school I go to now gives me free money. So if financial aid doesn’t work out, I won’t be able to attend :(

I applied as a transfer student on February 13th and still haven’t got an online update. I guess that’s not a good sign eh? :/

Don’t worry, the decision will come soon enough. I know how it feels to wait, i’ve been on the edge of my seat since applying. Mid-April was the time span they gave me. Hopefully, you’ll receive a decision by then! Good luck!

i got in to UMD as a transfer as well… does anyone know what they are doing about housing?? it apparently is very difficult for a transfer to get on campus housing

I just got accepted as a transfer really happy just because it is the 1st college out of the 3 I have heard from
