Can anyone tell me any information they have about the transfer center or your experiences with this living facility?

I'm going to live there in the fall and I requested a single. Anyway, I went inside last time I visited Cornell. I'll put it this way it's not the nicest or prettiest dorm in the world but I have heard it is pretty social. It's not a huge place and it is behind the gothics on west campus. The showers look like something out of a space ship or something lol

I have heard that the old transfer center will be demolished during the winter break in between 2006 and 2007. All residents would then move to a newly constructed dormitory for the Spring semester.

Anyone know if this is true?

yes, it's true.. this year (entering Fall 2006) will be the last class living in the original. I believe they're going to build something that's closer to the Alice Cook house, with a library, dining room etc. within the dorm.

edit.. i'm pretty sure about this, not 100%.. this was the gist of what I got from the TC director when i visited.

I am going to request a double at the center.
Hope to see you all there!

i think i want single im not sure but i hope to meet you guys there

That's gonna be great living in a new dorm. Double all the way...

do you have to apply to live there? or how does it work to get in there?

They send you a housing form with all the available housing.
The Transfer center has about 200ish spots, so invariably some people are going to miss out.

guys, is housing guaranteed for transfer students though? i'm a possible human ec transfer (currently attending CUNY Honors college at Hunter College) for fall 06

Folks , I'll be visiting Cornell in a week or so. I can take pictures of the Transfer Center.

dooooit. dooit.

dont bother taking pictures, it's not really a sight to behold. People live there for social reasons, not for the sheer beauty of the building
