<p>probably not... its harder to transfer as a freshman cause they'll only have that one semester to look at. I had a friend who had 4.0 his senior year (private prep school), over all HS gpa of about 3.5, SAT over 1300, and got a 4.0 his first freshman semester at NC State and didn't get in. But he did get in the next year when he applied (with a 3.8 I think). The only people I know who got in trying to transfer after one semester also were accepted from high school.</p>
<p>If you apply next year as a sophmore and still have a good GPA (above 3.5 I hear, but 3.7 would be safer) than you'll have a much better chance. They don't consider instate or out of state with transfers.</p>

Then again, dont always think that what you read on here is true. If you check out the honors program forum, you will see a group of people who thought that a high SAT score was necessary to be invited and to get scholarships. They were wrong.</p>
