Transfer chances from a community college?

Next fall I will attend a community college. I did not do well in high school? I had a 2.5 GPA and I made a 17 on my ACT, My EC's were track and field, high school band, hospital volunteer, and boxing.
I would like to transfer after my sophmore year to a school like NYU. What will I have to do at my community college to transfer to CAS school, My major will be environmental studies.
Please any advice? Thanks

In most cases, two years of hard work in a community college will cover for your high school GPA. You should start now by getting some review of what you missed in high school. Good luck.

Here's my advice: Work hard in community college and make sure you have a general plan of what you want to major in and where you want to go. In the UC system, high school counts for about nothing if you want to transfer- so don't worry about your past grades. And keep up your EC's, they're pretty important.
