I’m an international student, studying in community college, major in CS.
Courses taken: Cal I,II,III, Programming I,II,III, Physics I,II, Chemistry I,II and got all A.
GPA: 3.95/4.0. Got the only B for my Composition I.
English Grade: Haven’t taken Tofel, my credits could be used to waive English grade requirement for most public schools.
Volunteer experiences: No
Activities: Enrolled in the computer science and women in technology group in my college, no leadership experience.
Honors: Dean’s list in college
What kind of universities I could get in?
I prefer some CS top public schools like UIUC, University of Michigan - Ann Arbor, University of Washington, Georgia Institute of Technology, University of Maryland - College Park, University of Texas at Austin, University of Wisconsin - Madison, University of Massachusetts Amherst, Rutgers University, Texas A&M University…
I don’t think the schools will waive the English requirement.
CS major is very competitive and is impacted. This means limited seats. Too many students want this major and there just isn’t room. The public universities were created for their instate residents, so those students will receive priority admission.
Public schools will charge OOS tuition. Can you afford those schools?
The TEST of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
All you can do is apply.
In which state are you in community college? The smoothest path will likely be to that state’s flagship, even though you won’t get the in-state discount.
What is your budget? Many of those schools are quite expensive for out-of-state/international students. If you have the budget for these, you might also consider private universities that take relatively large numbers of transfers - Northeastern, BU, USC, Cornell, Tufts, NYU, URochester… just to name a few.
It’s in Texas.
My budget is 50,000 per year.
I thought private schools have less rooms so I haven’t considered them, Thanks for your suggestion I will do a research.
