Thanks for the time

Hey man...I think everyone is going to tell you (or some people will) that a 3.44 is a little on the low side. That's what they told me, and I have a 3.424. Your ECs are good, though. I think Wash U might be a possible. Your SATs are fine, but not so relevant now that you're a sophomore; college stats get weighted much more heavily by now. Sorry. This is totally not helpful. I would just go for it and see where the chips fall. Good luck!

I think you have a shot at these, give it a go. Penn will be the most difficult to get in, but you are already at a top 20 school which is good.

unfortunately, i think that the 3.424 is a "tad" too low. Every school I spoke to repeated this line "3.5+ to be competitive." I have a 3.6 and think my chances are horrible, at Cornell btw.

bball: Im not sure who you were referring to, but I dont go to CMU and my GPA is a 3.44...which is still below 3.5...sigh... But best of luck for your tranfer to Cornell, if i read that correctly? Im not sure if you meant that you are at Cornell currently or if youre trying to get in, but either way best of luck in whatever you do.

y17k thanks, I do hope that my essays impress the admissions comm. but I guess we'll see right? haha

green09: yea im a polisci major philosophy minor, and granted that their polisci dept. isnt as strong as the others I visited once and it was a great experience. Also, the feeling im getting from most of the ppl on this forum is that WashU is the school i have the best chance of getting into, which is great. One question though, is it the fact that their polisci program is "weak" or just not as "strong" as the other schools? just curious, and as always thanks for the reply.

Any additional opinions are most welcome, have a great day everyone

WashU is a great school... I used to live 20 minutes off WashU and go there all the time for activities/contests/etc. WashU is a school that has concentrated strengths, like their med, biology departments are second to none but other than that, nothing really shines. I'm a poli sci/econ major and my parents and I agreed that WashU's poli sci department isn't worth spilling $40,000 into but that's my personal story. The school is great, students are very motivated and smart so if you think you'd like it, give it a shot.

cj: thanks for the stat and the reply, I guess Ill have to start doing some research of my own

green09: well my ultimate goal is law school, so perhaps thats something else I should consider, thanks for the replies and the consistent info

bball: I see, I wish you the best of luck in your transfer process and I'm sure you'll be fine in whatever you do and if your transfer chances are horrible...well...i suppose that speaks volumes for me then :P

again thanks for the info/opinions guys...i appreciate your help in making this process easier on me

and of course if anyone else has opinions/advice/info, replies or even private messages are always welcome
