Hi everyone!

I just finished my Freshman year at Ohio University in Athens. My cumulative GPA for the year is 2.87this is because I got a D- in one class during the last quarter. I’ve completed 46 credit hours, so High School transcripts won’t be a factor.

I’m hoping that OSU sees the D- I have as a simple anomaly and understands that I’m a pretty decent student.

So, what are my chances of getting in? Do I have a shot? A bad one? A decent one?

Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks!

Ow, 2.87? That’s really painful, dude.

I think the question you ought to answer in the cover letter is: why didn’t you see the D- coming and drop the class before it did serious damage to you? I’ve done my fair share of dropping before when I’ve been in the class for a month and figured the professor to be an incompetent.

I reckon if you try again for this summer + fall semesters to lift it up to 3.0 and above, you’ll get a far better chance.

Well…darn. Needed the class to get 45+ credit hours for transfer. Couldn’t find any other which didn’t put me over 20 for the quarter.

I’ve read that Ohio State is pretty easy with transfers.

Any other thoughts?

Well you missed the deadline for fall quarter already, so you will have time to boost that GPA up. I just got in as a transfer for fall this year with a 3.45 GPA, and they let me know that I was in within 3 day.

When you do apply, just make sure essay bleeds scarlet and gray.

They extended the deadline to the 27th.
