I just got into Brown and seem to be two credits short on my credit evaluation (I applied with 12 credits and got 10). Does anyone know

1) why I might have been denied credit?
2) whether I can successfully argue for those credits once I arrive at Brown?

I go to Vassar, and their credit system is very similar to Brown’s, so I’m not sure what happened… I haven’t taken courses that are particularly esoteric, either- mostly psychology and intro lab sciences.

Are you going to be a sophomore? Brown only lets students take 5 classes maximum a semster, so they might not grant transfer students more than 5 credits a semester, either.

I applied as a junior. Right now Brown is counting me as a sophomore with "2 semesters of advanced credit" and then I'll have credit for three of the four classes I'm taking this semester (I decided to take a class- lin. algebra- pass/fail here at Vassar).

Some classes are departmental and you'll have to ask/solicit the specific department as to why they're not accepting your credit.

^^^What he said. Luckily I got full credit, possibly because I had so much credit for them to pick from. Coming in as a junior is tough though. You have to choose classes carefully to make sure you can graduate on time if they didn't give you credit for some of your required classes.
