hey guys, i'm currently a sophomore transferring to UB this spring 2011 semester. the credits i've earned from last semester are transferring over but this semester i've received a "D" in one of my classes and wanted to know if that would transfer over.

this is the first time i've ever gotten a "D"... this class was not a general education class or apart of my major; it was a very challenging elective that i thought would be fun -_-

i checked the UB website and all it says is that they accept all credits from regionally accredited universities/colleges. i'm wondering if the D will transfer...

thanks for the responses… the only issue is that they won’t be open until after new years so i’ll have to wait a while to find out. does anyone know how falling behind 3 credits will effect me? thanks

If it’s not going to transfer as a gen-ed or a course required for your major, why would it affect you at all?

Who isn’t open until after New Year’s? Most offices are working…my D has had emails from her advisor and the FA office in the past 2 days. Send an email…they’ll get back to you!

sk8rmom: I tried calling Capen Hall with a financial aid question yesterday, and there’s a voicemail message that the offices are closed until 1/3.

…I believe that Buffalo uses the ‘actual’ grades that you transfer in into your GPA at Buffalo. I read it somewhere on the site. Which means a “D”…

beehee, jay is right…the credits transfer but the grades are not reflected in UB’s gpa calculation. They are noted on the transcript with a “P” grade. Grad schools will typically want a transcript from each school attended.

Oh no! One D did that to a sophomore?! I think it’s unlikely at this point but you might be required to retake the class at UB, especially if it pertains to your major (and, in that case, it would probably be a good idea anyway). Which course was it?
