Transfer Fall 2010

I called today and they said they “hope to have all letters out by May 15” WHY ARE THEY DOING IT LIKE THIS?!?!?!

Did they say mailing it out on the 15th? Because they might have meant they hope all decisions will have reached people by May 15th… I’m pretty sure they’ll stick to their word about mailing out or dating letters the 12th for the 2nd batch and then potentially we’ll hear back within the next few days after tomorrow?

I would hope so. The girl did say they “hope” so have everything out by the 15th tho. I am so confused. And will be very upset if I’ve been waiting this long for nothing. :/

Same here! I’m sure they meant that they hope the letters will reach people by the 15th. Maybe the reason why the letters for our batch of recipients are being dated/mailed out the 12th instead of the 9th (Monday, like the batch mailed out the 3rd) is because they wanted to see if they could hear back yesterday and today from some of those who already got letters last week. That would probably help them even more determining final decisions for us.

I just called to ask if they received my mid-semester reports and they mentioned that the last batch of letters was mailed today. They also said that if you don’t receive a response by Tuesday you should call the office.

Good luck to whoever else is still waiting!

how many people do you think they have waitlisted? and how many people do you think have a chance of getting off the waitlist…

Ok good that means I should get my response either by tomorrow or Friday! I live on Long Island so the letter doesn’t have that long to travel!

@transfer91 hmm maybe you could ask the office? Would they give that information?

@PaulaDanielle same here! I live in manhattan just in the 20s so yeah… So scared :(

I hope you all get good news soon :-D

And I’m in Queens! Good luck ladies! :)

Also bookshop welcome to the thread! where you applying from? Ahhh thanks NerdyGirl!! Would it be safe to assume I should get mail tomorrow if I got in? But what about Friday would it even be possible to get it that late if I live here omg dying

Thanks! I go to Cambridge University in the UK. I know it has a good reputation and all that but to tell the truth I don’t know if it is deserved. Or maybe it’s just not the kind of teaching style for me.

Hahaha wow, that’s gotta be the most legit thing I’ve ever encountered at any CC thread. What qualities of Cambridge make you say that? Either way I’m sure you’re an excellent candidate if you got into Cambridge. Where else did you apply aside from Barnard (and NYU, from the thread  )?

Goodluck to all of us!!! :)

Well the most important thing is that we don’t get to choose any of our classes. Even though I love my major (Politics), I think it was a mistake to pick a school that would force me into a box, especially this early! Also I think the professors are pretty stand-offish and inaccessible (at least mine are). There are other reasons but overall, it isn’t the right fit for me. It’s VERY different from US colleges.

I’m applying to Georgetown and Johns Hopkins also. But I’m really hoping for Barnard!

the woman on the phone told me that they werent even sure IF they had room to take people from the waitlist, so I dunno how many they would take or usually take or if that even matters.

which makes me think that nerdygirl’s sudden acceptance from the waitlist must have been a mistake on Barnard’s part- they must have meant to accept her from the beginning!

So us waitlist people have to stick it out. Is anybody here who was waitlisted NOT going to reserve their spot? I don’t see why anyone would withdraw, but if they get into their first choice school above barnard, maybe some people will drop out…

ugh i hope we all get in.

plus, this just occured to me. as other acceptances trickle in, people will HAVE to make a decision and some won’t want to wait for Barnard and will just commit to another school. So that’s an option for us waitlisters too.

@bookshop that’s interesting. in many other countries I think it’s like that, you can’t choose your classes and are shoved directly into your major. That’s the case with my family in both the Philippines and Australia - which most likely exactly mimics the British system. Hmm maybe that’s why Emma Watson did the open curric thing at Brown haha!! Ugh, Parsons shoves me right into my major and also picks classes AND sections for me. This is ridiculous. Goodluck to us! So extremely terrified for tomorrow/Friday. Will be incessantly checking my mailbox. Apparently the mail can arrive in my box anytime between noon and 7pm. I’ll die.

@bwaybabe Hmm they’ve had to use their waitlist last year, so I’m sure everyone still has a shot! If anything last year their waitlist was still active until sometime in July! They’ll definitely inform you when the waitlist has closed. NerdyGirl’s immediate acceptance makes sense, too! Maybe she was intended for an admission in the first place  Then again I keep theorizing that they also most probably did the 2 waves of decisions in the hopes of getting immediate responses by Mon+Tue this week. I’m sure if there were some at all who immediately declined/enrolled, it would determine a few changes for the 2nd batch. And yeah, I’m sure the deposits/refusals will start abruptly by end of this week because of the lnflux of decisions from other colleges too!

AAAAAHHHH GOING NUTSSSS

I’ve been using CC ever since high school and never bothered to actually post, but I just went through all 24 pages of this thread and decided that maybe I should just join in.

I’m out in CA and applied as a junior transfer and Barnard is my first choice. I have yet to hear from them, which makes me super nervous knowing that some of you guys have already been accepted… Anyone else currently a sophomore? I feel as if I’m a little late in the game.

Applying for junior year too!

applying for junior year as well!
