Hey everyone!

I am currently a junior in San Jose, CA, and I graduated high school a year early, so I'm planning to attend De Anza Community College for the next 2 years (get my AA degree) and then transfer to UC Berkeley. During the previous years, I heard that De Anza had some kind of transfer agreement with Berkeley, and I was expecting to make use of that when I transfer. Well, today I decided to once again read through De Anza's agreements and found that Berkeley is no where to be listed in the list of colleges!!! I was deeply surprised, and I even tried searching the agreement on google, but there is no information on the agreement being cancelled or anything...am I looking for it in the wrong place, or something else happened?

If anyone knows anything, please help out!! I'm so horrified :O If there's not agreement, there's no guarantee Berkeley will accept me, and transferring is going to be so much harder!!! :(((((

Thank you!

You should post in the UC transfer subsection. But to answer your question, no, there is no guaranteed transfer program to UCB. There is TAP, which gives you no priority and is only for low income/1st generation/minority type students. If you are one of these, you should talk to a De Anza counselor about joining…I’m fairly certain they do TAP but I’m not sure. Regardless, TAP doesn’t give you priority, they just help you write your personal statement and give you counseling and stuff.

If you are applying for a non impacted major, as long as you complete all of your GEs and major prereqs with a high GPA, you are almost guaranteed in. So don’t worry about the extra programs, focus on completing IGETC and all major prereqs with as high of a GPA as you can.

Ohhhhh…thanks so much for helping me out!! I was so clue less, and the counseling doesn’t work during summer hours at De Anza, so I was just going completely crazy not knowing who to ask about this…And yeah, my GPA is really high, so I’m just planning to concentrate on keeping it that way, and completing all the classes I need in order to transfer…

Thanks so much!! I really appreciate it! :)
