Right now I am in the CoE, but if I wanted to transfer into Business first year because the engineering workload got too high, how difficult would it be? What would be the minimum GPA needed for say Finance?

Starting last year the business college went to a one chance only inter-college transfer process for students at UIUC who want to transfer. You can attempt to transfer into it at end of freshman year to begin sophomore year. You apply for transfer in May and decision is made in June after you have final first year grades. You must complete business freshman math requirements (which you would do if in engineering) and first two courses in Econ (which you will somehow have to fit into your engineering schedule). If you fail to be accepted at end of freshman year, you cannot apply later. No prescribed GPA but you should assume you need high for a chance (last year 90% who were allowed transfer had 3.4 or higher and close to 70% were at 3.6 or better, and if you are in engineering you will quickly discover that level of grades is not easy to get). Super high GPA goes not guarantee transfer as they do holistic review. Inter-college transfer acceptance rate was about 45% last year into this one. Hardest college to transfer into.

I’ll come in with Econ credits from AP Macro and Micro, so I just need to take at least one Calc course right and no econ classes are needed first year right?
