@hailtopitt1787 My son applied to Pitt main and was accepted into Johnstown. He is very disappointed as he has hoped for the main campus for a long time. He is a good student but his SAT scores were not high enough. From his initial disappointment he doesn't want to pursue the branch campus. We still feel he can get to where he wants to be if he is open to the satellite campus first. In your experience, can a student transfer from Johnstown to main after 1 year vs. 2 if they maintain a good GPA? Appreciate your feedback.

Some students do transfer from the Johnstown Campus to the Pittsburgh Campus. But it depends on several factors and procedures and requirements vary from one campus and program to another.

There is more information about the UPJ Engineering program here with a note about transferring: http://upj.pitt.edu/engineeringtechnology

I also encourage you to call UPJ’s Admissions Office to talk further with an admissions counselor there about opportunities at UPJ and your son’s interest in transferring to the Pittsburgh campus. They will be able to assist you further: 814-269-7050.
