Any help is appreciated.

Colleges won't like that your GPA dropped from high school to college, despite your work experience. If you're applying to a college, they'll care more about your GPA. If you're applying for a job, internship, or grad school, they'll care more about your experience. And your SAT scores are definitely sub-par for most of those schools. You may have a shot at Carnegie Mellon, Lehigh, and GW, but the rest are probably out of your reach.

Let me clarify something: I had a sea of problems (large and great which will be explained in my personal statement) from end of Junior Year of HS to Freshman semester. My GPA for Spring '05 (which is technically my first semester of college) is at a 3.31. I had a 3.91 for last semester and a 4.0 for this semester.

Also, for recruting purposes, you're misinformed about GPA. It is just as important as your work experience.

Not for post-grad stuff. You don't see 24 year olds citing their college GPA on their resumes unless if they graduated with honors or they were on the Dean's list or something for it. But for stuff during college, it probably is more important.

Anyway, if your explanation truly justifies your performance and isn't just an excuse, then I think that can be overlooked. Your GPA for the last two semesters is outstanding.

Still, though, I don't think public schools will care as much about why your grades suffered for a couple years (unless if it's a REALLY REALLY good excuse), because your SAT score is still below average for out-of-state candidates. (This especially applies to UVA and Berkeley).

The rest of your schools seem to be within reach as you seem to have shown that you've recovered from whatever happened a couple years ago through your perfect GPA this semester, and your work experience is impressive.

Btw Chicago is ALL about the essays.

Good luck! :)
