Yes, you read correctly. I want to transfer from a UC to a CC. I am currently a freshman at UC, and I plan to enter a CC next year as a sophomore. Reason being is that this year alone has caused a large debt split between myself and parents (due to my finaid consisting primarily of loans). I also plan to transfer into UC Berkeley.

Am I given the same advantage that 2-year CC students get? Does having a UC on my transcript affect my transfer eligibility/probability? Should I transfer to a CC now, for spring semester?

Thanks dungn.
So just to be clear, with the omission of TAG, I get the same advantage as others (first priority), yeah?

I’m not quite sure if this is following the trend, but I didn’t consider a CC because I wanted to get away from home. Turns out, I’m not very fond of socal.

Just out of curiosity, what (if there is) is the minimum amount of time a student must attend a CC to qualify for first priority?

Uhhh i don’t know what the other poster is talking about because i had TAG with UCSD, however,I know for irvine they specifically say you can’t TAG if you’ve gone to a 4-year. I went to UCSB and transferred to a CCC. As long as you stay at a CCC for 2 full regular semesters prior to transferring then you’ll get priority. What i did was 1 year at UCSB then 1 year at CCC and then i transferred to berkeley. Just realize that all those grades from your former UC will transfer. So even on my berkeley transcript, my UCSB grades get taken into account as part of my gpa.

So Berkeley allows TAG for students that have previously attended a 4-yr?
As far as grades go, that’s what I was expecting. If you don’t mind me asking, what was your gpa?
