hey, im a biosci (neuro) major at UCI and currently have a 3.3. I want to transfer to UCLA's neuro program. I will have completed all of the lower division requirements by fall 2010, but as of now, my GPA is pretty low.
so: 1. does anyone think a 3.3 will cut it since it's an impact major and all? and 2. does admissions look at my grades from sophomore year? I don't mean like in high school how they made sure we had a 3.0 or whatever to not get rescinded, but would my new grades (as they should boost my GPA) be looked at before the decision is made?

It’s almost impossible. UC’s give transfer priority to community colleges.

The better question is, why would you transfer out of UCI neuro? That’s one of the best programs I have ever seen, UCLA neuro majors are a dime a dozen in the life sciences department, where as at UCI you get faculty contact all the time since theres only like 30 students. If you want to switch to biochem though, UCLA is the better choice for sure.

It’s going to be very difficult with a 3.3 GPA when priority is given to CC students, and they usually have high GPAs. I know that UCI is harder than any CC but you have to consider that you’re already at a UC and you have a low GPA.

Try anyway because you never know if you get lucky.
