Hi,
I'm going to UCR next year and I'm hoping to transfer to UCLA. How can I do this?
Thanks!

talk to your counselor about it when u start attending ucr

[Transfer Admission - UCLA Undergraduate Admissions](Transfer Admission | UCLA Undergraduate Admission)

you have to declare your major and complete the major requirements at UCLA to transfer in as that major.

you also have to complete
- Two courses in English composition/critical thinking and writing.
- One transferable math course that has a prerequisite of intermediate algebra or higher.
- Four transferable college courses in at least two of the following subject areas: arts and humanities, social and behavioral sciences, physical and biological sciences.

and have to have over a 3.2 gpa and be junior standing.

That was my initial plan, but why transfer to UCLA after two years? You’ll lose friends, teachers who will write your letter of recommendations, and the cons outweighs the pros.

dont come here then. well if you want to be an idiot and spend 30k in GEs go ahead. Youll get a visit from scotty and orange the navel one night though

:)
thats all i have to say

hehe, man ill just put on a kilt and take care of business with scotty n navel!

you can be the big C (sniper)

BooMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

Headshot

that’s a good plan I have to say. No disrespect to UCR, but UCLA is just a much much much school. (I graduated from UCLA in 2008). You will make new (and more “useful”) friends in UCLA. In fact, I just helped several students transfer to UCLA and USC from UCR and SMC. Their parents were in tears the day they received their acceptance packages.

I transferred from UCR to UCLA. The fact that you’re relying on a forum is a bad start. You’re going to need to be motivated to make it happen…go do some research!

But fine, I’ll tell you the secrets.
A) Look up the average GPA accepted for your major as a transfer to UCLA
B) Look up the required classes for transfer for your major
C) Complete ALL those classes
C.1) Send E-mails to the necessary people at UCLA about any courses you’re not sure about (make sure that yours are transferrable)
D) Get a GPA above the average accepted for your major.
E) Write a decent essay

This question was posed two years ago. Why bump old threads?

@kvnl21 - “more useful friends” Really? Are you sure you graduated from UCLA? That is one of the stupidest generalizations of UCR I’ve ever heard. Well, UCLA dosent really have a good rep at UCR either. Sorry to generalize (not true for every UCLA student) but what I heard about UCLA students is true in your case - overly cocky, self-loathing, arrogant snobs. And just FYI, there are plenty of people I know from UCR who chose UCR over BU, UCLA, UCB and Northwestern. Surprisingly, UCLA even gave more in terms of finaid to a close friend of mine. You’re probably wondering why they made this decision like every other overly cocky, self-loathing, arrogant snob? Because UCR dosent need to brag about rankings during campus tours and the professors are actually approachable and willing to work with you based on individual assessment. Unlike some schools, where you could be “not qualified” to do research based on numbers on a piece of paper.
