Transfer from UIC to UIUC tips?

Hello!
I posted this same post on the UIUC and U of C forum to get advice from the different students. So I have a big concern at the moment. I’m planning on attending CC for about a year and then transfer into UIC to complete Freshman and sophomore year in Computer Science. After this, I’m going to try to transfer into either U of C or UIUC. I know those are really tough schools to transfer into. Especially if I want to get into the CS programs there. But I am determined to work really hard since UIUC and UC are both my dream schools. I didn’t do as well as I wanted to on the I had a great HS GPA with a 3.8. But the standardized tests really killed me. No matter how much I tried, I still ended up in the low 20s. Highest was a 23. But anyways, to UIUC from UIC (after doing CC), what did you do to make it to that level? What should I do to maximize my chance at getting there? Tips from other students would be appreciated too.
Thanks!!

I transferred from a CC to UIUC business. Had a 4.0 GPA and ok extracurriculars. Transferred as a junior, when ACT/SAT scores no longer matter nor does HS GPA. I also put in a good amount of prep into the essay and coordinated with a UIUC academic advisor during my time at the CC to make sure all my classes would transfer. Average transfer GPA to UIUC was ~3.8 when I transferred. So, no magic bullet but it’s definitely not easy - just stay persistent and focus on the goal ahead!

@Reasonable Thanks for the information. This is a really delayed response, but how many semesters did you complete complete before getting into UIUC? My problem is that I’m 21 and I’ve only completed one semester. So I feel somewhat short on time. And I need to complete the transfer requirements ASAP so that I can finish my degree on time.
Thanks for the help!

@khan1990 Here’s an even more delayed response, sorry, lol. I did 4 semesters. Your age is irrelevant.
