Transfer from USC to UCLA after freshman year?

I am currently a freshman at USC as a Business major and wish to transfer to UCLA. USC is way to much of a party school for me and I don't feel like I fit in with the type of kids that go here. I feel as if I am much more academically driven than the people around me and from personal experience I know that at UCLA the students are more academically focused and don't party every single night of the week and you can still have a great time and social life if you are not part of the greek system (contrary to USC). Yes, USC is a great school but I just don't feel like its right for me. Right now I have a 4.0 and have taken the classes that USC considers to be "hard" for a freshman. I was accepted to UCLA out of high school but ultimately chose to attend USC. Is there anyway that I can transfer into UCLA after my freshman year? Or do I have to wait to transfer after my sophomore year with the junior college applicants? Any advice would help!

I think you’ll have to reapply to UCLA in the fall with everyone else. :/

You should be a shoe in if you do apply, especially because of that 4.0 and because you were accepted out of high school.

If I were you, I would contact the UCLA admissions office and ask them about it. There’s only so much a bunch of people on a college forum can tell you.

On a side note, glad you came to your senses. :D

UCLA only accepts lower-division transfers for a limited number of majors (I think Art, Architecture, and maybe Nursing). UCLA gives priority consideration to junior transfer applicants from CA community colleges. Transfer applicants from other 4-year colleges are only considered on a space available basis and therefore the admit rate is extremely low. If your goal is to graduate from UCLA, I would recommend attending a CA CC and apply for transfer after you complete the general education and major prerequisite requirements (junior transfer). If you are fine with getting a degree from USC, then stay there and apply for transfer to see what happens.

they normally don’t take sophomore transfers, but they do make exceptions for some students who applied/were admitted as freshman. one of my friends went to a csu freshman year (even though she was admitted here) and was still able to transfer as a sophomore.
