i am a freshman at GW buisness program and am interested in transfering to either duke or chapel hill, my high school gpa was a 4.9 (out 6.0) weighted and 3.6 unweighted, act 27, scholar athlete, captain 2 sports mvp, could be recruited for swim if i tried, involved with clubs, given i get good grades at gw do i have a chance at transferring after a semester? after a year? or probly no chance into these schools?

I'd say give it a year and try...if you don't get in and still want to try, apply again. I think with a good GPA at GW you'll get into Chapel Hill, but you have to go to UNC for one semester before you can get into the business school. Duke accepts VERY few transfers so definitely give it a year to build your GPA up and give it a shot. Might consider retaking ACT as well.

would it matter if i had retaken the act while in college? i am also african american ethnicity would that help?

any more suggestions?

some places only take scores from high school...i'd check with both universities. African American ethnicity may help, but I doubt it does as much for transfers as it does for entering freshman since that's all they really talk a/b in college books.
