I am currently a freshman attending Michigan State University. I am from the East coast so the way of life is a lot different here than I am used to, and a lot different from what I like. I am from the New York City metropolitan area so I am used to densely populated areas near major cities. Before I attended college here, I knew that wherever I went I would want to eventually transfer. My UW high school GPA was only a 3.4. I had lots of extra curricular activities but didn't have the grades to get into my most desired schools.

With those things said, would it be easier to transfer to a school such as NYU from Michigan State as a freshman or as a sophomore? Ideally, I would prefer transferring out at the end of this year as opposed to staying here until the end of sophomore year. Also, if my supposed GPA was a 3.75 after this semester and I applied Spring of 2013, what would be my chances of getting accepted to a school such as NYU, William and Mary, UVA, UNC, U of Wisconsin or George Washington U with only one college semester under my belt?

Thanks!

P.S. Don't be afraid to tell it like it is. If I can't get in this year, worst case scenario is that I apply at the end of sophomore year!
