Transfer Hopeful

I am currently a freshman at The College of New Jersey, hoping to transfer for fall 2012. As a senior in high school I was denied admission to W&M. I am currently taking Calculus A, Physics 201, Freshman Seminar Class (required of all freshman, mine is a comparative religion class), German 103. Next semester I am enrolled in Calculus B, Physics 202, Computer Science 215, and German 201. This semester I should have at least 3.8 GPA. Because of my major (Physics) and minor (German) I am restricted somewhat in the types of classes I can choose. I am planning on reopening my application from last year, but since I was rejected last year would it be unwise to reopen my application since I am unsure which aspects of my application weren't up to W&M standards? Do the essays from my common app/supplement get factored in? Is there anything a once-rejected applicant can do to strengthen their application? Thank you so much for taking the time to read these threads, and I am sorry for bombarding you with questions, but (surprisingly) there is very little information about the transfer process out there! :)

The Reopen application ([William & Mary - Reopen Applicants](http://www.wm.edu/admission/undergraduateadmission/applicationprocess/reopenapplicants/index.php)) is designed to make your life easier. It’s a very short application (2 pages). All you have to do is submit that and updated transcripts. We keep all of your original application materials for one year. Even if you don’t complete the Reopen application we will still match your new application with your materials from last year. If you want to submit a new essay that’s fine. It will be considered. But the Reopen application asks you to update us on what you’ve been doing since you last applied and that’s the information we’re really looking for.

Not sure if you previously applied as a freshman or transfer but keep in mind that if you applied as a freshman, our freshman application process is very selective. It may not be that your application wasn’t up to our standards, it may simply have been that our process is so selective and our pool so competitive.

We have a very detailed transfer web page that you might find helpful ([William & Mary - Applying as a Transfer Student](http://www.wm.edu/admission/undergraduateadmission/applytransferstudent/index.php))
