Sorry, I saw the wrong dorm. I should be in a double in Unit K, but I would like to stay in a dorm that opens during the breaks. Can I ask for change?

Does anyone know when we’ll find out who our roommates are?

Got a double in Brown. A little farther than I wanted, but the dorm seems nice enough.

@beverlywang, all dorms are open during fall and spring break. We’re not sure if any residence halls stay open for Thanksgiving or winter breaks. You can contact Residence Life and ask but it’s unlikely they’ll change your dorm assignment since there are so few to go around for transfers.

@summersunshine, again, contacting Residence Life should be able to answer your question.

I got a double in Chandler!!! (signed up here because I was so excited and I’d been meaning to anyways!)

So happy to be on campus!

I’m in a triple in Ludwell too!

Roommates are listed at the bottom of the housing contract, if you email back ResLife saying you accept your housing.

@BeverleyWang I’m pretty sure the policy they told us means that to refuse the offer you got means your off the list and someone else gets that spot. If there’s another round of housing you might get something different, but that’s a big maybe. Honestly, we’re all transfers so for the first year its more of a just-be-happy-you-have-housing situation; as of now there are 200 other transfers who have to live off campus.

How long did it take for Reslife to respond with the housing contract? I accepted via email an hour after I got the offer but haven’t heard back yet.

I also got a triple in Ludwell.

I got the offer on the 29th and replied back that night. Got the contract around 3:00 PM yesterday.

So-- still no housing offer for me. This is secret code for I’m screwed, correct? I mean, has anyone on here turned down an offer?

[My apologies for creepily breaking in; I’ve been stalking this thread from afar.]

People have to accept their housing contracts by June 6th, so I would assume after that if there are openings remaining you will be contacted

I applied at 9:02 and got a double in Old Dominion Hall! I wonder when we’ll find out who our roommates are?

So to ScholarErrant, I’m sorry to say that no, I did not turn down my offer. Best of luck on the waiting list! Don’t forget you can also try to apply to live in Governor’s Inn if that suits you.

@YoungHistorian and @W&M Admissions, thank you for answering my question.
Does anyone know if transfers are living with freshman or with other transfers? When will we find out about roommate?

@BeverlyWang
You find out about roommates at the bottom of the housing contract. My roommate is a senior, but from last year’s posts there may be potential for rooming with a freshman (some people got housed in Taliaferro), though I think they may try to discourage that, as its intimidating from a frosh perspective. I think someone said they try to pair people with other transfers, but its also contingent on what rooms were reserved/ what spaces have been made available.

Personally I had thought I’d prefer to room with another transfer, due to same situation and all that, but the resources that come with rooming with a non-transfer are invaluable in terms of getting information about the campus, professors, classes, etc. Coincidently my roommate is doing research for an honors thesis and plans on going to grad school/getting a PhD: while we’re in different fields (not by much though) I’m planning on going the same route and now have another source of advice (provided we get along), so I’m happy.

Many thanks to summersunshine and AceOfHearts, but as it turns out there was some sort of weird email mistake (?) and they apparently meant to send me an offer. I got an email late last night informing me that I had until the 6th to accept or decline and when I responded saying I had not received an offer they sent me a copy right away. Weird I didn’t get the email but SO glad I got the housing!
