My friend was just accepted as a transfer student and was wondering when exactly she'd hear about her housing situtation? Does anyone know when these students hear if they're even going to be on campus and if so, where?

Once all of the transfers have responded on if they are coming or not the Office of Residence Life and Housing will do a drawing to determine everyone's order in the list (unfortunately I was 60th of 65 men). They will then let you know fairly soon where you are on that list. Some will get housing immediately, some will find out right before school, and usually about half will be SOL for the first semester. It isn't all that bad, I lived off-campus first semester and there are lots of options, so just get in touch if you need to hear about those. That is the quick version of how it works though. Wish your friend luck for me!

I am a transfer student as well and heard that the drawing is going to be on July 9th. Does anybody have a strategy and/or course of action if they don't draw the lucky marble?

lol, probably to email me. Seriously, I have gone through finding off-campus housing, if it doesn't work out then get in touch and I will help you find a place. Just start thinking about if you want a roommate now and talking with people on the transfer message board.

Oh ok, thank you so much! Just wondering if anyone knows how many transfers were accepted for the '07-08 year anyways?

I haven't heard an official number but I believe my year was 130 or so, but that was years ago. I am an old fart :)

Ironically of late it has been more difficult for female transfers then males to get housing, last two years many did not get housing beyond the first 20-25 selected. Make plans for the fact that you might not get housing right away and hopefully you will be pleasantly suprised. D lived off campus one semster her number was 21. The fantastic feeling of acceptance soon was overtaken by the tread of finding housing, and with no car it can be a hugh issue. Fortunately she roomed of campus with a friend and they made their schedules work. They lived down the road at University apartments, the place was well maintained, quite and only two miles from campus with lots of stores and resturants close by. One thing she did mention is that after getting on campus she really appreciated the convience, she loves living on campus and was glad for the experience to live off, but really loves the dorm life. Go Lyons.

Good luck everything will work out.
