Has anyone who is a transfer student for the fall semester received the housing contract yet? I see that housing is non-guaranteed for trasfer students. When did you guys sumbmit the housing application? (I am assuming most of you are opting for Northwood III)

I think I got mine in the middle of the summer last year. I harassed Housing a bit and got placed in Couzens, which I then traded for a South Quad room. Personally, as a Transfer student, I strongly suggest getting something on Central. To fit in and find new people, I found that South Quad really met my needs and really made my Michigan experience... well, just awesome.

I know that MightyNick was placed off... in Oxford, which I don't think was that bad for him.

Yeah, Oxford wasn't that bad overall. Took me a couple of weeks to get used to walking to central and waiting 15-20 minutes for the Oxford Link bus. It did suck in the winter though, on Saturday mornings when I had to walk to Markley for breakfast in subzero temperatures and -15F wind chills. Other than that, it's not too hard to make friends if you're outgoing. Oxford's definitely better than being on North campus though.

Don't worry, you'll get housing. There are a lot of empty spaces available in Oxford.

I got my housing application a while ago, and when I found out that my only options as a transfer were Northwood III, Northwood III, and Northwood III, I got angry and decided to take the commute from home (3 miles, not that big of a deal) rather then live in an apartment on North Campus - well away from the Kinesiology building.

I REALLY want to stay in a dorm on Central Campus so I can meet people. Is there ANY POSSIBLE WAY that I still can or am I S.O.L?

Talk to them. People in Housing are nicer than they may seem.

They told me that Oxford, Northwood III and Baites were my only choices. I just didn't listen =/

When I visit for orientation, I'll probably have to stop by housing. However, as of right now, I think I'd rather have an apartment near central campus than have to be at North. We'll see what happens.

Are you a sophomore transfer or junior? If you're the former, I don't... suggest it. As much of a pain North can be, I know a LOT of people who have enjoyed it. If you're a sophomore, you still have time to meet people. One of the biggest social connections you can have with someone, is living in the same area. I know that half my friends wouldn't have met purely because we have such different interests, yet we were all brought together cause we lived in the same Hall.

How's people in Northwood 3? Is there interaction or do people just lock themselves up in their own rooms the entire day?

I'm going to be a junior.

Were you successful in your attempt to get in a dorm on Central? If so, what steps do I need to take?
