Transfer Insight

I am thinking about applying to Michigan within the next semester or two. I graduated high school in 2014 and my grades were sub par for Michigan so I never applied. I was wondering if anyone could give me some insight into if I had a fair chance or not. After high school I went part time at a Grand Rapids Community College, and am now at Western Michigan University.

HIGH SCHOOL
GPA: 3.4
ACT: 26
EC: I participated in a few sports, varsity soccer for four years, including being captain senior year, and many all conference, all state, and all district awards over the years, as well as a leadership award my senior year. Two years of varsity swim. Three years of varsity track, including being a captain senior year. I also played football my senior year and kicked a school record field goal.

GRCC
GPA: 3.2
Credits that will transfer: 14

WMU
GPA: 3.85
Credits that will transfer 26

If I did apply I would apply to LSA as a Spanish major, and about half of the credits that I have now are in Spanish courses. I’d like apply within the next two semesters, so I could achieve a junior status. I am in-state. Also my mother and uncle graduated from Michigan so I am legacy status. Since my ACT is a weak area would retaking it make me a more competitive applicant? I also plan on joining a couple clubs soon here at WMU. Thanks in advance for any insight on my situation.

Colleges don’t care about your ACT as a transfer student. Your grades and recommendations matter the most.
